Levantine spoken tracks
Levantine Arabic as Ruqelo currently teaches it
Levantine Arabic is a family of spoken varieties used across the eastern Mediterranean. Ruqelo Arabic currently offers two specific tracks: Palestinian Arabic and Syrian Arabic. That is not complete Levantine coverage — Lebanese, Jordanian, and other varieties are not in the product yet and are not advertised here as available.
Who these tracks are for
- Learners with family, community, or work ties to Palestinian or Syrian Arabic
- People who need everyday Levantine conversation rather than textbook MSA
- Travellers who want a truthful starting path, not a fake “complete Levantine” course
- Gulf-based learners who also need a Levantine track for colleagues or patients
How to choose a path
- Choose Palestinian Arabic if that is the speech you will actually hear
- Choose Syrian Arabic if that is the speech you will actually hear
- If you are unsure, start with the community you will speak with most
- Do not switch tracks hoping one file covers every Levantine city
What “Levantine” means here
On this site, Levantine is an umbrella for the two spoken tracks we actually ship. It is not a claim that Ruqelo teaches every Levantine variety, nor that Palestinian and Syrian Arabic are identical.
Widely understood greetings (not city-specific inventions)
These greetings are already used across Ruqelo’s public Arabic guides. They are not a substitute for track-specific curriculum inside the app, and they are not a claim of complete Levantine coverage.
Greeting
السلام عليكم
as-salāmu ʿalaykum
Peace be upon you (a common greeting).
Hello
مرحبا
marḥaban
Hello.
How are you?
كيفك؟
kēfak?
How are you? (to a man; forms vary by speaker and place).
Thanks
شكراً
shukran
Thank you.
Transliteration is a learning aid to support reading — Arabic script and audio practice in the app remain the reference for pronunciation.
Frequently asked questions
Does Ruqelo teach all Levantine Arabic?
No. We currently offer Palestinian and Syrian tracks. Additional Levantine varieties are not available yet and are not listed as current product features.
